I'll be doing a workshop at DevGAMM Lisbon this year!
Hi everyone! I'm super exited to say that I'll be giving a workshop at DevGAMM Lisbon this year! (November 6 — 7, 2025)
It will be a full hands-on session about designing tools in general (including exercises, room brainstorming and Q/A) and we'll be touching many of the lessons I have learned during my 5 years of Text Animator for Unity (which has immensely helped fund my studio without needing publishers or investors for the past years).
We will be using Godot 4.5 to experiment with UI and prototypes (as it's really easy to hook up and learn), but no worries if you have no experience with it (or if you won't be able to bring your PC) - I have something for you too! 🫶🏻
We will plan how to go from ideation to market (hypothetically) for all engines, the pros and cons of the many directions you could choose and how there isn't a definitive choice ever, but it all depends on too many variables (and you never know anyways). I hope you'll be able to take inspiration from our internal development and publishing processes, start thinking about elements that are not so obvious when you create or share tools/assets for everyone, and most importantly: have fun!
P.S. It's a lot of work! Expect a general intro to get everyone on the same page (similar to my devcom talk + Godot custom inspectors quick start), a practical session on many topics, Q/A and of course me gesturing in Italian during all of it. 🤌🏻
