Godot people are doing a tremendous job - July 2026

Side note: English is so funny to me sometimes. When I started learning it, I had no ideas "tremendous" meant something good. It means "atrociously bad"/terrible in Italian and I need to remind myself that it has the opposite meaning in english. More like "extraordinary", if we can say that.

Anyways. Just to clear things to my future self, I mean "tremendous" as in: tremendously good.

Godot people are doing a tremendous job in maintaining the engine and carrying updates forward.

I have been following things for a while now, both talking to some of the maintainers / people on the foundation but also just looking around what gets shipped, how it gets communicated, and the quality of the releases from 4.0 onwards.

In a world where shipping fast is highly incentivized and AI made things incredibly worse, what I see is a team that actually takes time to think about the next steps and then... they're good?!?

I have no ideas about how this can work, given it's a super small team coordinating thousands of individual contributors.. but it is working really well.

I remember opening an issue once and getting replied that it was actually intended (my bad!) in ... moments... holy s**t!

This has to be preserved, and if I knew there was an AI behind that reply, or worse if they had to look at issues spit out by probabilistic machines - we would get demotivated real quick and there would be no engine that we know of.

Tremendous job. Excited to follow new updates and to be able to donate in the near future.

Ciao!
